#11 The Issues

Strengthening the privacy protection of citizens of the EU was a hot topic at the conference. One of the things brought up by a representative of the Dutch Data Protection Authority was the idea of explicit consent. This is important to users around the world. Explicit consent means that anybody using your data or collecting your data has to have your explicit consent rather than being able to assume that you gave consent. Limitations on how data-gathering entities may use personal data were also discussed, and they have been hugely important issues worldwide in recent years.
